Garbage truck accident leaves three dead

Posted on December 00, 0000 in Truck Accidents

When it comes to large vehicle accidents and the risks involved, a Chicago truck accident attorney would probably be able to tell our readers that commercial trucks are often the center of attention. But any large, oversized vehicle can pose a danger to other drivers on the road, especially if the driver is acting negligently. All drivers must operate their vehicle under a reasonable standard of care. This standard depends on the circumstances. Therefore, drivers of large trucks must operate the truck understanding the implications of the truck&s size and weight.

If a driver fails to abide by the standard of care and injures someone as a result, the victim can usually bring a personal injury suit against the driver. The family of a victim can also bring a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver if the victim dies.

A garbage truck driver was recently involved in an accident in Glenview, Illinois, that killed three people. Investigators are still looking into the situation and did not immediately file any charges related to the truck accident.

The Village of Skokie owned the garbage truck and posted online about the accident. According to the Village, the truck had the right of way when it approached and entered the intersection. The website indicated that the other car involved failed to abide by the two-way stop sign before crossing into the same intersection. The car apparently caught fire after the impact, killing three people inside.

Friends and family of the victim shared their side of the story as well. They believe that the truck driver was speeding. They pointed out that the car and truck slid half a block after the impact as a result of the truck&s high speed.

Depending on the results of a police investigation, the family of a victim may be able to bring a wrongful death claim against a truck driver under a theory of negligence. If a driver is found liable, the family can recover compensation for emotional damages, as well as expenses incurred as a result of the accident and death.
