Overview
Prior to joining Salvi & Maher, Mackenzie clerked for a federal district court judge in Chicago, gaining invaluable insight and experience with all types of federal cases, including intellectual property, employment, criminal, and civil rights litigation. Mackenzie was also an associate for two years at an Am Law 100 firm in the areas of business and tort litigation, investigations, and white collar defense. While there, she served as the lead defense counsel on numerous cases for one of the Big Three credit-reporting firms, even winning dismissal on a number of cases. She also gained wide-ranging pro bono experience, from seeking and obtaining asylum for immigrants, to advising on constitutional policing, to representing child pornography victims. Most recently, Mackenzie worked as an associate at the boutique litigation firm Gair Gallo in Chicago, specializing in commercial litigation.
While in law school at the University of Illinois, Mackenzie was an editor on the school’s law review, won best oral advocate in the school-wide moot court competition, received CALI awards in multiple subjects, coached moot court teams, and was involved in the Women’s Law Society and Student Legal Relief. She graduated summa cum laude, ranking 6th in her class. Prior to law school, she attended the University of Notre Dame, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and graduated magna cum laude.
Mackenzie lives in a northwest suburb of Chicago with her husband and two young daughters. In her little spare time, she enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, cheering for Notre Dame football and the University of Illinois basketball, being outside, running and working out, and various creative projects.
