According to a report by Lake & McHenry Scanner, the collision occurred around 2:35 p.m. at Barrington Road and Dundee Road, where the semi-truck rolled onto its roof after striking an SUV.

Emergency responders worked for more than an hour to extricate the truck driver, who was airlifted to a nearby trauma hospital. The driver of the SUV was evaluated at the scene. The intersection was closed for several hours as authorities investigated the cause of the crash.

Understanding Complex Liability in Trucking Crashes

Accidents involving semi-trucks can be more complicated than standard vehicle collisions. Factors such as load weight, driver fatigue, braking distance, and visibility all play a role in determining fault. Even when one driver appears to have made an error, multiple factors may contribute to the outcome.

Evidence such as dashcam footage, crash reports, and witness statements often help clarify what happened. Because commercial trucks are subject to both state and federal safety regulations, investigating these cases thoroughly is essential.

What to Do After a Serious Crash

If you or someone you know is involved in a semi-truck accident:

  • Seek immediate medical attention, even for seemingly minor injuries.
  • Contact law enforcement and obtain a copy of the official crash report.
  • Take photos and gather witness information if it’s safe to do so.
  • Avoid making statements about fault until the facts are reviewed.

Taking these steps can help protect your rights and preserve critical evidence.

Legal Options for Those Injured in Truck Accidents

Victims of trucking accidents may be eligible to recover damages for medical bills, lost income, and other losses. Because these cases often involve multiple parties — including drivers, trucking companies, and insurers — experienced legal representation can help ensure your rights are protected.
