Pickup Truck Crash Leaves Driver Injured Near McHenry

On Sunday evening, a Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup truck left the roadway and struck a large tree along the edge of South River Road, just south of Moraine Hills State Park in unincorporated McHenry. The impact caused a large tree limb to break off and crush the cab of the pickup truck, trapping the driver inside. The incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. in the 1600 block of South River Road, north of the Ozinga facility. The driver, an adult male in his late 40s or early 50s, did not appear to have life-threatening injuries. Firefighters extricated him from the heavily damaged vehicle in approximately 10 minutes. Paramedics then transported him to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry. The McHenry County Sheriff's Office is investigating the cause of the crash, though officials noted the road conditions were not slick at the time.
