Firefighters extricated a driver who drove partially into a pond during a crash that caused heavy damage and sent two women to the hospital in Huntley Thursday morning. The Huntley Fire Protection District and Huntley Police Department responded around 9:45 a.m. Thursday to the area of River Park Drive and Del Webb Boulevard in Huntley for a report of a water rescue. Huntley Fire Protection District Public Information Officer Alex Vucha said crews arrived a short time later and located a two-vehicle crash just south of the intersection. One vehicle was located near the roadway and the second car had gone down a hill and came to rest partially in a pond. The SUV was only a few feet from shore and the tires were in ankle-deep water, Vucha said. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage as a result of the crash. Vucha said firefighters and paramedics found that both vehicles were occupied by elderly female drivers. The driver of the vehicle in the pond required minor extrication from the vehicle. Both victims were evaluated by paramedics and were transported to a local hospital with injuries described as minor to moderate, Vucha said.
